How do I...

 

                 Become an Assistant Director?

 

                 Just choose a production and ask that director if you can be his/her assistant.  They will assign                  you things to do during the course of producing the show, and teach you all you need to know about being a director, RCLT, and the Director’s Guidelines.  At this point, you are also eligible to serve on the Play Selection Committee, where you will help approve the plays chosen each season.

 

Become a Director?

 

 

You must serve as an Assistant Director on two productions and receive good  recommendations from those Directors.  You need to be familiar with the Director’s Guidelines and be prepared to follow them.  Then you just choose a play, submit it, and wait for approval of the play from the Play Selection Committee.  Then you are on your own – ready to cast and direct!  You will also still serve on the Play Selection Committee.

 

Become a Sound & Lights Technician?

 

 

Choose a play you want to be involved in, attend the auditions, and inform the  director  that you wish to work on Sound & Lights.  Our Sound & Lights Chairman (or an experienced Sound & Lights Technician) will teach you how to set up and run the sound and lights for that show.  The director will tell you what they need for the Sound & Lights Plot, and you will attend rehearsals to practice along with the rest of the cast.

 

Become a Stage Manager?

 

 

Choose a play you want to be involved in, attend the    auditions, and inform the director that you wish to be the Stage Manager.  The director will tell you what needs done, and you will                                    attend rehearsals with the rest of the cast and become familiar with the show and the things you will need to do backstage.

There are many other numerous things to do in the theatre backstage:

 

Stage Assistant (Curtain Pulling, Set Changes, etc.)

Costumes (Help in finding, fitting, sewing, etc.)

Props (Help in finding, building, creating, etc.)

Set Construction

Set Decoration

Prompting (Attending rehearsals to help prompt actors on lines so the director can concentrate on the blocking.)

 

There are many ways to become involved in RCLT – we would love to have you.
